RIDER EDUCATION PROGRAM

ERC - WHY SHOULD I TAKE IT? GO HERE

The basic purpose and goal of the Rider Education Program (REP) is to make the Motorcycle environment safer by reducing injuries and fatalities by increasing skills and awareness. Through commitment, education, application of skills, and the 4 Levels of Rider Education, we can reduce our accident rate significantly.

Safety is a state of mind which can only be attained through total commitment. Every successful accomplishment begins with a commitment to reach the intended objective. Any GWRRA Member (Rider or Co-Rider) ready to make this commitment to riding safety may join Level I.

Level I Requirements

Rider & Co-Rider must commit to riding safe, learning safe-riding techniques and improving skills as necessary to reach a competent level of safe riding.
COST FOR LEVEL I: $6.00 to join with no annual renewal fees. You will receive a "Safe Miles" patch, a Rider or Co-Rider Rocker and a mileage pin indicating how many safe miles you have ridden since joining GWRRA or last accident.

Level II Requirements

The commitment to be a safe Rider/Co-Rider in Level I prompts us to learn all we can about Motorcycle Safety. Attainment of Level II signifies an acceptance to learn more.
Rider & Co-Rider must be enrolled in Level I.
Rider must have completed an MSF Course, an ERC course, the United Side Car course, a Two-Up course or a Trailering course in past 2 years.
Co-Rider must have completed Two-Up course, attended a Seminar or viewed a Co-Rider Video in past 2 years.
COST FOR LEVEL II: $5.00 to join. Participants will receive a Red Triangle patch signifying Level II.

Level III Requirements

Since accidents will and do occur, it is important that we be fully prepared to lend aid to accident victims. The Level III of the Rider Education Program was developed to deal with this by recognizing and encouraging proper CPR and First Aid training.
Rider & Co-Rider must be enrolled in Level I and II.
Rider & Co-Rider must possess a current CPR or First Aid Card and carry a First Aid Kit on their Motorcycle.
Rider & Co-Rider must wear Protective Riding gear at all times while riding.
Rider must have completed a ERC Class within the last 2 years.
Co-Rider must have completed a Two-Up course, attended a Seminar or watched Co-Rider Video in past 2 years.
COST FOR LEVEL III: $4.00 to join. Participants receive a Certified Tour Rider & Co-Rider patch to display above the Level II triangle patch.

Level IV Requirements

Level IV is designed for those special individuals, who desire to "be All they can be" with regard to Motorcycle Education and Safety. Level IV requirements are stringent and require a greater commitment:
----Rider & Co-Rider must be Level III for at least one year.
----Rider & Co-Rider must have ridden a minimum of 25,000 safe miles.
----Rider & Co-Rider must carry a First Aid Kit.
